Nau mai haere mai ki Te Wehi Nui!
Welcome to the Te Wehi Nui website. This site currently consists of content compiled for descendants of Taitokerau ancestors, hapu, iwi and others with an interest in regional histories, narratives and images relating to marae communities of the north of New Zealand.
On these pages you can listen to the video korero or stories given by kaumatua and kuia, and browse through contemporary and historical images of places, people and events.
The material on this site has been collated as part of our fieldwork from communities across the north of NZ since 2008, and also sourced from other national websites such as Te Ara, Matapihi, National Library of New Zealand, Timeframes & Auckland Museum.
We are continually refreshing Te Wehi Nui with new content that we have compiled, but you too can upload your own stories, images and videos using the Contribute section.
We hope you enjoy browsing through Te Wehi Nui, and if you have any comments or questions please contact us and let us know your thoughts.
